WCAGdesk
about · provenance · no logos we can't substantiate

Who builds this — and why you shouldn't have to trust us.

WCAGdesk sells evidence. A product whose whole point is "verifiable without trusting the vendor" would be absurd if the vendor itself asked for blind trust. So this page doesn't. Almost everything below is a thing you can inspect, run, or verify yourself.

01

What you can verify without believing us

  • The engine. Every scan runs axe-core — the open-source engine behind Lighthouse and Chrome DevTools. Run it yourself and compare findings.
  • The evidence format. The timestamp and hash-chain spec is published on GitHub, versioned. Any RFC 3161 timestamp we issue verifies with openssl ts -verify — no WCAGdesk account involved.
  • The legal mapping. Our WCAG ↔ EN 301 549 ↔ EAA ↔ BFSG crosswalk is an MIT-licensed dataset on GitHub, regenerable from one script.
  • The limits. The methodology page states plainly that automated scanning covers roughly 30–40% of WCAG criteria and tells you when to hire a human auditor. We publish the ceiling, not just the pitch.
  • The price. On a public page, in euros, cancel anytime. No quote process, no sales call.
02

The people

WCAGdesk is a product of SideLabs, an independent engineering studio that builds data-intensive products, operated by Sergei Gordienko (full provider details in the imprint). The work is public where it can be: the evidence specification, the EU accessibility mapping, and the GitHub account the contributions ship from.

Support and sales are written and asynchronous by design — email hello@wcagdesk.eu and you get an answer you can file, forward to your lawyer, or hold us to later. For a product whose output ends up in legal folders, we think a paper trail beats a phone call.

03

What you won't find here

  • No customer logos or testimonials we can't substantiate. German law (§ 5 UWG) treats invented social proof as misleading advertising — an odd thing for a compliance vendor to risk. When we have public references, they'll be real and checkable.
  • No overlay widget. We don't modify your site; we record what it actually serves. Why that matters.
  • No "100% compliant" badge. Nobody can honestly sell that. We sell a dated, independently verifiable record of what you tested, found, and fixed.
04

Why this product exists

Since the EAA took effect in June 2025 and German enforcement began in 2026, the accessibility market has been full of claims — overlay badges, vendor dashboards, "compliance guaranteed." But an Abmahnung or a Marktüberwachung inquiry is decided on evidence: what state was the page in, on which date, and who can confirm nobody edited the record afterwards. We built the tool that answers that question with mathematics instead of marketing — because that's the part of the problem software can actually solve honestly.

Judge the artifacts, not this page.

Run a free scan and look at what comes out — the report, the methodology, the spec. That's the trust model.
