WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines)
The W3C guidelines (current version 2.2) that define how to make web content accessible. The basis EU law builds on.
The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) are the W3C standard for web accessibility, organised under four principles: perceivable, operable, understandable, robust. The current version is 2.2; the EU baseline is Level AA.
Automated tools like axe-core can check roughly 30–40% of WCAG; the rest needs human review. See our fix reference for the checks a scan reports.
